One request filled, two more to go!
It’s an exciting morning here at the House of Bones: I’m packaging up my first ever oven-ready roadkill pheasant for a friend! We found the slightly battered cock a few days back at a crazy significant spot, and I’ve since performed the funerary rites, processed the bird (skinning, gutting and cleaning) and sealed the pieces up for mailing.
At the request of my babygirl I left the feet and head attached (she’ll be detaching them herself to preserve). I also included the pheasant’s heart, and it’s fuller-than-fuck crop (full of grain that’s ready to plant!). And I’m insanely happy to say that the skin was wanted, too, so she’ll be getting the entire bird. (I carefully flayed the mofo so all of it - feathers, tail, wings and even pheasanty face - is in one semi-perfect piece.) What couldn’t be used - i.e., the damaged organs - were immediately returned to the earth; I suspect my daffodils will be extra healthy this year!
One request filled, two more to go!
PS: If you’re interested in an oven-ready roadkill pheasant for your own and you’re also in the UK just gimme a shout, okay? I promise not to price gouge you, and you can decide what you do - or don’t - want (i.e., the feet, the head, specific organs, etc).
